Our file compression and decompression tests were split into two halves to cover a broad spectrum of performance. The first test we ran was to compress and encrypt a 176MB MPEG-2 source file with the highest quality compression ratio. Secondly, we compressed and encrypted the folder of 400 photographs with the same compression settings.

The performance step up here for the OCZ memory at its higher speeds is certainly notable, especially in large file compression where it shaves a solid 20 seconds off the encode time. When we're talking about a test that's two minutes long - that's a 17 percent saving of your time.
File Decompression & Decryption:
The two RAR archives created during the compression and encryption tests were then decompressed and decrypted.

In decompression testing the extra memory bandwidth makes no performance difference what-so-ever though - the limiting factor in this test is the IO and hard drive performance above memory.
